The Marineterrein is a historic area that has always been en will be connected with innovation. The Ministry of Defense leaves a part of the Marineterrein step by step. In 2015 and 2016 and 2018 parts of the area became publicly accessible. There are four different tours on this part of the Marineterrein:

  3. Walk through Oosterdok by De Gebouwengids
  4. Tour about city developments by Architour


At the Marineterrein, dozens of organizations are working on major issues of our time such as blue-green roofs, improvement of water quality, alternative transport flows, learning new skills and a healthier living environment. Every last Friday of the month there is a freely accessible tour along the latest projects.

Former navy-official Hans Bartelsman organizes tours about the rich history of the Marineterrein and the role of the armed forces.

Architour visits the Marineterrein in the context of the complete area development of the IJ-oevers. The tour starts with a crash course on the history of Amsterdam’s architecture in ARCAM. Note: The development of the Marineterrein is officially not part of the development of the IJ-oevers.
