Which themes are important to the development of the Marineterrein?
The themes that are currently important to the development of the Marineterrein are water, learning, living, mobility, and health. We are seeking solutions for the following social issues:
- Water: How do we maintain clean swimming water in the Marineterrein harbour and how do we develop an optimum water management system that helps cities cope with rainfall, cool their buildings, and create green roofs?
- Learning: Technology is changing the world at a rapid pace. Which new skills should we learn in order to stay strong?
- Living: Urbanization and climate change have significant consequences for the way we live. Which solutions does innovative housing offer?
- Mobility: We want to do away with polluting and space-consuming vehicles in the city. How can we do this while ensuring that both people and goods arrive at their destinations?
- Health: Sufficient exercise is important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. How do we inspire people to exercise and participate in sport?

What is happening in terms of culture?
Culture and innovation go hand in hand at the Marineterrein. Initiatives by artists and creative entrepreneurs are always welcome, as they facilitate crossovers between new technologies and art that can stimulate and inspire the general public. The Marineterrein also participates in city-wide and national events such as the Uitmarkt, the Amsterdam Light Festival, and the Grachtenfestival.
